Manchester City have made a £60 million (€67.5 million) bid to sign French defender Lucas Openda from Lille.
The club have reportedly offered the player a new contract that would allow him to stay at Stade de Reims until the end of next season.
However, Openda has declined the offer and is reportedly set to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Openda, who has played for Lille since 2018, has been one of the most impressive defenders in Europe this season, with his performances earning him widespread recognition from both fans and managers alike.
His move to PSG would be a significant coup for the French giants, who are currently third in La Liga and looking to strengthen their defense ahead of the upcoming season.
City's interest in Openda comes as they continue to look to bolster their squad ahead of the transfer window closing on July 31st. The club have already signed several high-profile players during the summer, including goalkeeper Ederson, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, and striker Sergio Aguero.
Despite the disappointment of losing out on Openda, City remain committed to strengthening their team and will likely continue to pursue other talented players throughout the remaining months of the transfer window.
